Anyone who has photos of MG events, please get up with Cathy H. or Lorraine H., so they can archive those photos.

Check out the New EDIS Publications.  Not too many this month

Your webmasters,

Pat Ann & Nelly H.

Our membership meetings in the south end of the county are held at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church Community Life Center. It is located at 4115 Soundside Drive, off of Highway 98, on the south side. If you are coming from the west on Hwy 98, it is approximately 1 mile east from the intersection of 281 (Walmart/Garcon Point Bridge area). Coming from the east, it is approximately 10.5 miles west of the intersection of Hwy 98 and Hwy 87. It is across the highway from Sherwin Williams Paint Store. Directly to the east (across the street on Soundside Drive) is the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The meetings held at the Extension Office in Milton are on Dogwood Drive.  Take Hwy 90 and turn on Dogwood Dr. going North.  Turn left at the USDA sign on Maid Marion St.  Turn left behind the USDA building and follow it to the Extension Office parking lot.

  New Co-Webmasters

Originally from Argentina, Nelida H. has lived in California and Florida for the past thirty plus years. She and her husband, Al, currently live in Milton, love it, and never plan to leave. Three of their sons live in the Tallahassee area and a fourth son lives in Fairbanks, Alaska. Other family members include her kitties, Melanie (Himalayan Persian) and Heidi (a Birman) .

Nelida, or Nelly as she likes to be called, is a born nature lover, enjoying both plants and animals, particularly in their natural habitat. She loves gardening and likes to keep the many plants and flowers living in her own yard at home in their natural environment, as much as possible. Also, she does her best to make her yard comfortable and safe for birds and butterflies.

She has degrees in Spanish/English translation, accounting and law, with an advanced degree in tax law. Her work experience includes over 20 years as a Spanish/English court interpreter and she still maintains current license to practice law in the state of California.

Nelly’s hobbies include SCUBA diving, hiking, camping, crocheting, and photography (both underwater and above).

Lorraine Hubbard has lived in Santa Rosa County for three years. She  retired from the federal government with 30 years of service in  finance and administrative policy.

Her gardening interests include butterfly and wildlife gardening,  landscaping, bugs (good and bad), and working with children. Her other  interests include dancing, cycling, scrap booking and knitting (but  only when it is  too hot to go outside), swimming, reading, the  Pensacola Symphony and all the local concerts and most of all she  loves just hanging out with her son, Chris, daughter-in-law, Marcie,  and her two grandsons, AJ and Matt  all who live in Maryland.

Lorraine currently volunteers as a docent at the Panhandle Butterfly  House and is the chair person for the Master Gardener 2008 class  project as well as training to be a co-webmaster for the master  gardener webpage.

Santa Rosa County is located in the western Panhandle of Florida. The state of Alabama borders us to the north, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. We have a rather unique situation in regard to gardening because of our soil, our climate and our proximity to the Gulf of Mexico.

UF/IFAS Santa Rosa County Residential Horticultural Agent Theresa Friday conducts Walk-in Clinics periodically at the South Santa Rosa Service Center. See the Walk-in Clinics section for the schedule and location of these clinics, and for information on how to contact your Santa Rosa County Extension Agentshorticultural information.
