Greetings, Master Gardeners!

Welcome to

the Master Gardener Website

for Santa Rosa County

Our County ...
Santa Rosa County is located in the Western Panhandle of Florida.  The state of Alabama borders us to the North and the Gulf of Mexico to the South.  We have a rather unique situation in regard to gardening because of our soil, our climate and our proximity to the Gulf of Mexico.

Our Newsletter ...

The Santa Rosa County Master Gardener Association publishes a monthly newsletter: Earthworm, which is full of very useful information regarding gardening in our area and about the MG Association.  You can take a look at our newsletter by clicking on the 'Earthworm Newsletter' page.

Information Source ...
EDIS is the Electronic Data Information Source of the UF/IFAS Extension.  EDIS provides a collection of unbiased, research-based information on topics relevant to you.  Check out their new or revised publications in the 'EDIS Publications' tab at the bottom of this page.

We are volunteers...

The Santa Rosa County Master Gardeners are County Extension volunteers who serve their communities by extending horticulture research and technology to the people of Santa Rosa County.

Our Residential Agent ...

The Santa Rosa County Residential Agent from UF/IFAS (University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences) is Theresa Friday.  Ms. Friday is also the part of the Extension Faculty and the Master Gardener Coordinator.  Ms Friday conducts Walk-in Clinics periodically at different locations within the county,  Click on the 'Walk-in Clinics' page for more information.  Ms. Friday also teaches a comprehensive program to train new Master Gardeners each year.  The 2009 classes started in January and concluded in May.  The page 'MG Program' provides further information.  Make sure to check it out

Our Membership Meetings ...

Our membership meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month.  In January, March, May, July, September and November we meet at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church Community Life Center, which is located at 4114 Soundside Drive, off Highway 98, on the South side.  If you are coming from the West on Hwy 98, it is approximately one mile East from the intersection of 281 (Walmart/Garcon Point Bridge area).  Coming from the East, it is approximately ten and one half miles West of the intersection of Hwy 98 and Hwy 87.  It is across the highway from Sherwin Williams paint store.  Directly to the East (across the street on Soundside Drive) is the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

In February, April, June, August, October and December we meet at the Santa Rosa County Extension Office, located on6263 Dogwood Drive, Milton.  Take Hwy 90 and turn on Dogwood Drive going North.  Turn left at the USDA sign on Maid Marion Street.  Turn behind the USDA building and follow it to the Extension Office parking lot.

Speakers' Bureau ...

Not only do Master Gardeners assist with Walk-in Clinics, but they are also available to make presentations on different topics through the Speakers' Bureau.  Make sure you check the 'Speakers' Bureau' page for further information.

Our Projects ...

Santa Rosa County Master Gardeners are also involved in a myriad of projects, from instructing at ARC, volunteering at the Panhandle Butterfly House, through working at the demonstration gardens at the UF/PJC and the Milton Extension Office, teaching children through the 'Growing Gardeners' and 'Garden Mosaics' programs, to presenting educational booths at different fairs and festivals. Check out the 'Ongoing Projects' page for more details.
